Russia Leads Gender Diversity in Tech
It turns out that pushing equality actually makes things more equal. An article posted to ZDNet, shows parents who push their daughters to study Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) have a direct affect on their career choices.
After the Bolshevik revolution, which led to Russia becoming a communist nation, the government passed equality laws. In the 21 years from 1917 to 1938 the number of female researchers skyrocketed from 10 percent to 42 percent.
Facebook Lacks Support
If you’ve ever reported a post or profile, you realize this. It takes a long time to get a response, and usually it’s just a form letter.
Unfortunately, the size and scope of the platform are so large, that hackers are taking advantage of nonprofit organizations for personal gain. This is a story about an animal shelter and how hackers used social engineering and phishing to scam $1,500 from kindhearted donors.
Australia Doesn’t Understand What Encryption is For
I’ve mentioned encryption previously. The internet uses encryption for the same reason we use envelopes when we mail things; privacy. Australia has just passed a bill that will require companies to provide a method of intercepting encrypted communications.
Australia is trying to make it legal to read every piece of data that gets transferred through its borders.
The REAL problem here, is if a backdoor is built into the encryption, there is a 100% chance that hackers will be able to find that back door and exploit it as well.
There are two ways out of this situation. Companies can discontinue business in Australia, or the rest of the world can pressure Australia into repealing this intrusive and unnecessary law.

One of the most important things you can do to make sure you’re privacy and security are intact on the internet is keeping your devices up-to-date. I’ll be posting a course soon on updating different devices.
